  • USCIS Announces Processing Changes for 212(e) Waivers(37 KB - 12/21/2006)
    On 10/10/06 USCIS began forwarding 212(e) waiver recommendations to the VSC where the waiver application was based on an HHS or interested government agency request, or on a “no objection” statement.   • USCIS Announces that the H-2B Cap for the First Half of FY 2007 Has Been Reached(38 KB - 12/6/2006)
    On December 5, 2006, USCIS announced that it had received sufficient petitions to reach the H-2B cap for the first six months of Fiscal Year 2007.   • USCIS Announces Temporary Suspension of Premium Processing for Religious Workers(48 KB - 11/29/2006)
    On November 28, 2006, USCIS announced a temporary suspension of Premium Processing Service for Religious Workers applying for R-1 nonimmigrant visa classification. The suspension will last six months from the date of the announcement. During this timeframe USCIS will determine whether it is able to process these cases within 15 days of receipt. AILA Doc.     On November 8, 2006, USCIS announced it had received enough petitions requesting special immigrant status from Iraq and Afghanistan to meet the FY 2007 visa cap.   • USCIS Issues a Case Transfer Update (10/2/2006)
    USCIS issued a notice about recent case transfers between Service Centers. The VSC transferred 20,000 cap-subject H-1Bs to the TSC and 6,000 cap-subject H-1Bs to the NSC. The VSC also transferred 20,000 I-130s to the CSC. In addition, all pending I-360’s have been transferred to the CSC.

  • USCIS Issues Reminder of EAD Filing Changes (7/31/2006)
    As of April 1, 2005, USCIS required applications for employment authorization to be filed at one of the four USCIS Service Centers or the National Benefits Center. Since then, some local offices have continued to accept applications at their discretion.
