State Department has received numerous inquiries concerning the scope of INA 222(g)"beyond the period of stay authorized by the Attorney General." Generally, the provision only applies to overstays of nonimmigrant visa, not other violations of status.

Revised Req. for Visas Eagles for Iranians

Effective immediately, visas eagle telegrams are required on all/all nationals of Iran between the ages of 16 and 65, who are not already otherwise subject to Visas Donkeys or Bears. Cables should also be slugged as follows: State for INR/IC TIPOFF. This requirement will remain in effect for 100 days and will end on 15 March 1997.
