NSC Cancels 6/14/12 Teleconference on Student and School Issues

Cite as "AILA InfoNet Doc. No. 12052442 (posted Jun. 6, 2012)"

From the Nebraska Service Center:
Good morning.

I only received one question for the teleconference scheduled next week on Student/School and Other issues. As there was only one agenda item, the call scheduled for June 14 has been cancelled. We will resume the teleconference schedule on July 12; the topic will be Business.

The question that was received asked how to expedite an I-765 application. The expedite process is as follows:

The best course of action is to contact the National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-800-375-5283. The NCSC will take a “service request” and forward your expedite request to the office with jurisdiction over the application.

Please note that all expedite requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and should meet at least one of the expedite criteria outlined on the USCIS website. These criteria are:

  • Severe financial loss to company or individual; Extreme emergency situation;
  • Humanitarian situation;
  • Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States;
  • Department of Defense National Interest Situation (Note: Request must come from an official U.S. Government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to our Government.);
  • Potential loss of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits;
  • USCIS error; or
  • Compelling interest of USCIS.

From the Nebraska Service Center:

The Nebraska Service Center will be holding its next stakeholder teleconference on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. (CST). This teleconference will be reserved for issues relating to Students and School, and Other Issues. Students/School and Other includes the following topics:

  • Legalization/I-817
  • I-102
  • I-824 (general)
  • I-131 Reentry Permits/Refugee Travel Documents
  • N-565
  • I-90
  • I-824 as appropriate
  • Waivers as appropriate

The deadline for submission of students and school-related questions and questions on other issues is Tuesday, June 5. You can submit questions directly to me at ceo.nsc@dhs.gov.

Call-in information will be provided closer to the teleconference date.

Please note that an RSVP is not required to participate in these local teleconferences; call-in information is sent out to everyone on my distribution list. If you are not currently on my distribution list but would like to be, simply send an email to ceo.nsc@dhs.gov with your information. Thanks!
