VSC Employment Based Cases Transferred to Districts Being Returned to VSC

The Vermont Service Center has informed AILA liaison that 10,000 employment based cases transferred to the NY District Office have been transferred back to the VSC to assess whether interviews can be waived. It is believed that a significant number of these cases will be adjudicated at the VSC but others may be re-sent back to the District.

The Vermont Service Center has announced that it will be permanaently closing its public window as of September 1, 2004. Thus, it will no longer conduct business on a walk-up basis.

VSC Liaison Committee Advises on I-797 Print Problems

The Liaison Committee reports that the VSC is taking steps to address problems with ink retention on some VSC I-797s. Replacement of approval notices may be requested by faxing a copy to the expedite line, with an explanation and a request to have the notice reissued.
