DOJ Fact Sheet on IDENT and IAFIS Interoperability

The Department of Justice (DOJ) Fact Sheet explains the US-VISIT program’s Automated Biometric Identification System (IDENT) and the FBI’s Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS). EOIR Announces 10 New Legal Orientation Programs

San Francisco Immigration Court to Move to New Address

Attorney General Gonzalez Announces Additional Funding to Combat Human Trafficking

Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzalez announced additional funding of almost $8 million to create new Trafficking Task Forces in 10 cities around the country. The additional funding will assist law enforcement agencies and service organizations in their efforts to assist victims of trafficking and apprehend those engaged in trafficking offenses. AILA Doc. Attorney General Gonzales Outlines Reforms for Immigration Courts and BIA

Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales announced that the DOJ will implement new measures to improve the Immigration Courts and Board of Immigration Appeals. The measures include performance evaluations, an immigration law exam, a proposal for the authority to sanction, budget increases, technological improvements and streamlining practices. AILA Doc. DOJ and DHS Announce the Addition of 25 Federal Prosecutors to the Border District

DOJ and DHS announce that twenty Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) will be added to border districts in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California. Former Nightclub Owner Pleads Guilty to Forced Labor Charges

The DOJ announced that the former owner of a Dallas nightclub pleaded guilty to forced labor charges. DOJ alleged that he used an international human-smuggling network to bring South Korean women to the U.S. and forced them to work as club hostesses.
