"According to the Hellenic Ministry of Public Order, all Greek passports issued by the local Greek Nomarchies prior to December 31, 2005 will be invalid for travel from January 1, 2007. To obtain a new passport, please inquire at your nearest police precinct or through the Greek Police/Passports (DIED) website at http://www.passport.gov.gr "
From "Important Information for Greek Passport holders" on the website of the U.S. consulate in London:
"Effectively immediately, with the exception of Greek diplomatic and official passports, passports issued before 01 January 2006 are no longer considered valid for travel to the United States.
Holders of both the Greek E-passport and older versions of the passport issued on or after January 1, 2006 may continue to travel to the United States on these documents. All versions of Greek official and diplomatic passports are valid for admission until the date of expiration, regardless of the date of issuance."
