Robert P. Wiemann, AAO Chief, Dies

AILA has learned that Robert P. (Bob) Wiemann, Chief of the Administrative Appeals Office at USCIS, has died. Mr. Wiemann served well more than two decades in the former INS and with the USCIS, including positions as an adjudications officer and trial attorney with the INS in the Miami District Office, and rising to lead the AAO, the position he held at the time of his death. Mr. Wiemann will be remembered for his efforts to raise the standing of the AAO, efforts to improve the quality of its decisions, and to bring transparency to the office. He is survived by his wife, Mary Mulrean, and two children. Details on arrangements have not been announced.
