On 10/13/09, the House and Senate Appropriations Committees issued a conference report on the FY 2010 Homeland Security Appropriations bill (H.R. 2892). It included three-year extensions for the religious worker, Conrad 30, EB-5 and E-Verify/Basic Pilot programs. AILA Doc. No. 09100710.
Obama Signs Stopgap Bill; Four Immigration-Related Programs Extended Through 10/31/09

On 10/01/09, President Obama signed a continuing resolution to fund continued federal government operations through October 31, 2009. Included in the legislation were provisions to extend the E-Verify, Religious Worker, Conrad 30 and EB-5 programs. AILA Doc. No. 09092882.

On 9/16/09, the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security and International Law approved a bill (H.R. 3290) which would provide permanent residency to spouses and children of undocumented immigrants who died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Congress to Conference FY10 Homeland Security Appropriations Bill

On 07/09/09, the Senate insisted that its amendments to the FY10 Homeland Security Appropriations bill (H.R. 2892) be included in the final version of the bill and asked for a conference with members of the House of Representatives to resolve differences between the House and Senate versions of the bill. Senate Passes 2009 Omnibus Bill With Immigration Provisions

On 3/9/09, the Senate passed the Fiscal 2009 Omnibus Appropriations bill (H.R. 1105). The bill was passed by the House on 2/25/09. The measure includes provisions that would extend two immigration related programs -- the EB-5 regional center program and Basic Pilot (E-Verify) program-- through September 30, 2009. AILA Doc. Membership of the House Immigration Subcommittee Announced

On 01/22/09, leaders of the House Committee on the Judiciary announced the membership roster of the Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security and International Law.
