  • USCIS Q&As on HIV Being Removed from CDC List (4/12/2010)
    USCIS Q&As on the change in law made by HHS, and CDC that removed HIV infection from the list of communicable diseases of public health significance. The rule takes effect on 1/4/10. As of 1/4/10, having HIV infection will no longer make a foreign national inadmissible to the U.S.

  • MALDEF and ACLU Win Permanent Injunction of Third Farmers Branch Anti-Immigrant Ordinance (3/25/2010)
    The Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund and the American Civil Liberties Union succeeded in invalidating a Farmer Branch, TX ordinance. The district court ruled that the city did not have the authority to regulate the residence of noncitizens within its borders.
