  • TRAC Report Finds after Three Years Reforms to Immigration Courts Still Not Completed (7/2/2009)

  • TRAC Report on Immigration Prosecutions (1/13/2009)
    A Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) report reveals that an unusually large surge in immigration prosecutions in the last months of FY 2008 resulted in the annual count of such filings more than quadrupling during the Bush Administration. AILA Doc. No. 09011360.

  • DOJ OIG Report Confirms Politicized Hiring of IJs and BIA Members(358 KB - 7/28/2008)
    The DOJ’s OIG released a report entitled, “An Investigation of Allegations of Politicized Hiring by Monica Goodling and Other Staff in the Office of the Attorney General,” which confirms that political and ideological considerations were taken into account in the hiring of immigration judges and BIA members.   • Vera Institute’s Evaluation Report of EOIR’s Legal Orientation Program (5/16/2008)
    EOIR released Vera Institute of Justice’s Evaluation, Performance and Outcome Measurement Report of the Legal Orientation Program, which seeks to provide individuals in removal proceedings information on forms of relief, how to represent themselves pro se, and how to obtain legal representation.
  • TRAC Report on Asylum Decision Disparities Among the Nation's IJs (9/24/2007)
    A new report by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse shows large disparities in asylum decisions among the nation's immigration judges. The report is based on data records of hundreds of thousands of asylum applicants in removal proceedings that were obtained from the Immigration Court under the Freedom of Information Act. AILA Doc.   • OIG Report on IAFIS and IDENT Interoperability (11/2/2006)
    In July 2006, the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) released a report of the FBI’s progress toward achieving biometric interoperability between its Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) and the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Automated Biometric Identification (IDENT).
