DOL Announces $2.65 Million Penalty for H-1B LCA Violations

The Labor Department announces imposition of a $2.25 million back pay award and $400,000 in fines in settlement of an action against a computer staffing company for H-1B labor condition application violations. AILA Doc. No. 05112368.
Job Change for Chief of Foreign Labor Certification

Labor Dept. announces that William Carlson, currently Chief of the Foreign Labor Certification Division, will become ETA Regional Administrator for Boston. OMB Completes Final PERM Rule Review

On 12/10/04, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) completed its review of the Department of Labor's Final PERM Rule. The rule is expected to be published in the Federal Register shortly. Stay tuned for information on how to register for AILA's national teleconference on the new PERM rule.

DOL Claims to Meet Its LCA Processing Obligations

Department of Labor certified to the Senate that it 'substantially complied' during calendar year 1999 with the requirement that it process LCAs within 7 days. This certification is necessary for DOL to obtain a share of funds from the $500 filing fee.
