  • Mexico City Consulate Announces Nonimmigrant Application Fee Increases(18 KB - 12/14/2007)
    The Mexico City consulate announced that effective January 1, 2008, nonimmigrant visa fees will increase. The fee increase will also apply to Border Crossing Cards (commonly known as “Laser Visas”) for applicants in Mexico.

  • DOS Announces Forthcoming Ratification of the Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption (10/25/2007)
    DOS announced the forthcoming ratification of the Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption in December 2007. FAQs on regulations governing intercountry adoption service providers and the Intercountry Adoption Act of 2000 are included.

    The Secretaries of State and Homeland Security determined that material support inadmissibility provisions are inapplicable to material support provided to the Front Unifié de Lutte des Races Opprimées (FULRO), a Vietnamese Montagnard group, before 12/31/92.

  • USCIS Announces Revised Guatemalan Adoption Processing Procedures (10/11/2007)
    On 10/11/07 USCIS announced revised processing procedures for adoptions of Guatemalan children. Effective 10/15/07 USCIS will place a ceiling on the number of initial orphan petition submissions in Guatemala. DOS urges U.S. citizens not to begin an adoption in Guatemala.

    DOS and DHS announced that U.S. citizens traveling to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda who have applied for but not yet received passports, can enter and depart by air with a government issued photo identification and DOS official proof of application for a passport through 9/30/07.
