EOIR posted a letter from Thomas Snow, Acting Director, EOIR, to the editor of The New York Times regarding a 7/10/09 article titled “Immigration Judges under Strain.” The article discusses a study published in the Georgetown University Law Journal, which applied a psychological scale for testing professional stress and exhaustion to 96 immigration court judges who agreed to participate. The study found that overwhelming case loads, and a lack of sufficient resources, has left them highly strained.
