The following immigration-related bills were introduced into the House of Representatives and the Senate in August:

Foreign Adopted Children Equality (FACE) Act (H.R. 3110)

Introduced by Rep. Watson (D-CA) on 6/26/2009
Summary: Amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to set forth automatic citizenship criteria for a child adopted outside the United States by a U.S. citizen parent. Deems such an adopted child to be a U.S. citizen at birth.

Humane Enforcement and Legal Protections (HELP) for Separated Children Act (H.R. 3531)

Introduced by Rep. Woolsey (D-CA) on 08/01/09
Summary: To provide protection for children affected by the immigration laws of the United States, and for other purposes.

Secure and Safe Detention and Asylum Act (S. 1594)

Introduced by Sen. Lieberman (I-CT) on 8/6/2009
Summary: Sets forth provisions regarding procedures and standards applicable to aliens detained in Department of Homeland Security (DHS) custody and the conditions of such custody.
