    The National Council of La Raza, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, the Latin American Workers Project, UNITE and the New York Immigration Coalition filed suit on 12/17/03 in New York, alleging that the DOJ and FBI unlawfully entered information on civil immigration violations into the National Crime Information Center database.

  • DOJ IG Conducts Audit of INS’s Rehiring of Federal Retirees (3/19/2003)
    The DOJ Inspector General has conducted an audit of the rehiring of federal annuitants by the (former) INS. The INS was granted emergency authority to rehire these federal retirees beginning in fiscal year 1996.   • DOJ Inspector General Conducts Follow-Up Review of SEVIS Implementation (3/18/2003)
    The DOJ Inspector General has conducted a follow-up review of the INS’s progress in implementing SEVIS, including an assessment of the effect of the INS’s transfer to the DHS on the foreign student program and SEVIS implementation.
