    In light of HHS’ recent rule, which eliminated HIV from the list of communicable diseases rendering one inadmissible, on behalf of AILA’s LGBT Working Group, Victoria Neilson and Noemi Masliah provide a practice advisory covering issues surrounding the recent end of the HIV Ban.   • Repeal of the HIV Immigration Ban: Practice Tip (7/31/2008)
    On 7/30/08 President Bush signed into law the US Global Leadership Against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Reauthorization Act (H.R.5501). AILA alerts members that while this legislation rids the statute of unfair discrimination against foreign nationals with HIV, it does not repeal the ground of inadmissibility for those that are HIV positive.
