    USCIS announces that it has received 61,747 H-2B petitions counting against the FY05 66,000 cap. USCIS advises further that it needs to approve approximately 100,000 beneficiaries to fully utilize the 66,000 H-2B visa cap during a fiscal year, and that it anticipates imposing, in FY05, a cut-off with exceptions similar to those in FY04.   • DHS Press Release Reminding Honduran and Nicaraguans to Re-register for TPS by 1/3/05(137 KB - 12/7/2004)

  • DHS Issues Press Release and Fact Sheet on Biometric TWIC Card Testing (11/18/2004)
    On 11/17/04, the Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration began testing the biometric technology and business processes of the Transportation Worker Identity Credential (TWIC) Program at the Port of Long Beach Container Terminal. The program will expand to 34 sites in six states and will last seven months.

  • DHS Issues Press Release and Fact Sheet as Reminders on VWP Machine Readable Passport Requirements (10/25/2004)
    The DHS press release and fact sheet remind Visa Waiver Program (VWP) travelers that, effective 10/26/04, the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection will begin enforcing the requirements that travelers (including children) applying for admission under the VWP must possess a machine readable passport. One-time exemptions may be granted.

  • DHS Press Release on Expansion of US-VISIT Exit Pilot Programs (8/3/2004)
    DHS announces expansion of the exit pilot program to 13 new sites by September 2004. Any foreign visitor with a visa who leaves the United States through one of the pilot sites is required to comply. After 9/30/04, visitors traveling under the Visa Waiver Program will be required to comply as well.
