Our nation's dependence on unauthorized labor is an undeniable problem. Currently there are an estimated 8 million undocumented workers in the country representing over 5 percent of the U.S. labor force. If these undocumented workers suddenly leave the workforce, our country would face significant, possibly devastating, economic consequences.
