  • DOL Starts Transition and Shutdown Phase of BECs (10/5/2007)
    DOL announced that as of 9/30/07, the backlog in the Permanent Labor Certification program has been eliminated, with nearly 99% of cases completed and the remainder awaiting responses from employers. Both of the BECs have started a transition and shutdown phase that will continue through December.

    America's Job Bank (AJB) will cease operations on 6/30/07 as a recruitment tool. DOL announced on 6/4/07 that the BECs will be switching to the America's Job Exchange (AJE) for posting recruitment advertisements for backlogged Foreign Labor Certification recruitment activity.

  • DOL Announces Back Wages for H-1B Violations Committed by Two California Employers(92 KB - 5/8/2007)
    DOL press release announcing that two Southern California companies paid a total of $332,000 in back wages following separate investigations involving violations of the H-1B program. One of the companies, Cottage of the Oaks, also was debarred from the H-1B program.
