Senator Durbin Introduces DREAM Act

On 9/21/07, Senator Durbin (D-IL) introduced the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act of 2007 or DREAM Act (S.A. 2919) as an amendment to the defense authorization bill (H.R. 1585).

The DREAM Act would facilitate access to college for immigrant students in the U.S and provide a path to permanent residence for ambitious immigrant youth who were brought to the U.S. as young children and who want to pursue higher education or military service. At this point it is unclear whether the DREAM Act will be offered this week and be voted on, but stay tuned to InfoNet for information as it unfolds.

In the meantime, please contact your senators NOW and urge them to SUPPORT the DREAM Act.
