  • SSA Publishes Revised Information Collection on Form for Requesting Information on Wages Earned (1/27/2009)
    On 1/26/09 SSA published a revised information collection on Form SSA-L725, Letter to Employer Requesting Information About Wages Earned by Beneficiary.   • SSA Issues Notice of a Renewal SSA/ Law Enforcement Agency Matching Program (3/1/2007)
    SSA published a notice of a renewal computer matching program that SSA will conduct with Law Enforcement Agencies (LA), expected to begin 4/9/07. The purpose of the program is to establish conditions under which Law Enforcement Agencies will disclose fugitive felon and parole or probation violator information to the SSA. (72 FR 9374, 3/1/07).   • SSA Publishes Semi-annual Regulatory Agenda(141 KB - 12/13/2006)
    SSA published a brief description of all regulatory actions completed since the previous publication of the agenda on April 24, 2006, as well as those currently under development or review, or expected to be under development or review during the next 12 months.   • SSA Adopts Final Rules on Social Security Card Replacements (8/1/2006)
    The SSA has adopted final regulations that reflect amendments to the Social Security Act made by the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004. Individuals will be limited to three replacement SSN card per year and ten during a lifetime. Reasonable exceptions are permitted. Previously, numerical limits on the issuance of replacement SSN cards did not exist. (71 FR 43054, 7/31/06)

  • SSA Revises Regulations Prohibiting Benefit Payments When It Receives Notice That Insured Person Is Removed (3/31/2005)
    SSA revises regulations that prohibit benefit payments to an insured person, and sometimes dependents, when it receives notice that the insured person has been removed. Some changes reflect similar amendments to the INA; other changes are unrelated to INA amendments, including eliminating an exception to benefit nonpayment. (70 FR 16409, 3/31/05)

  • SSA Establishes New Requirements for Number Issuance to F-1 Students (9/14/2004)
    Effective 10/13/04, in order to issue a number to an F-1 student, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will require that the F-1 student provide evidence of authorization by the school to work and that the student has secured employment or a promise of employment, unless the student has an EAD or CPT authorization.
