DOS Memo on Resumption of SR Allocations
October 25, 1994
MEMORANDUM
TO: Adjudications/Examinations
FROM: Immigrant Visa Control
SUBJECT: Resumption of SR Allocations
On October 25, 1994, the Immigration and Nationality Technical Corrections Act of 1994 became law. One provision of this legislation extends the "SR" immigrant visa classification for "Certain Religious Workers" until September 30, 1997.
Effective immediately, Visa Control is resuming allocation of SR immigrant visa numbers. SR visa numbers are "CURRENT" for November for all applicants except those chargeable to Philippines, for whom there is an allocation cut-off date of May 19, 1993.
Visa Control currently has a waiting list of SR number requests received during September from numerous INS offices. All of these requests can now be acted upon. Visa Control will be allocating SR numbers for the pending September requestings.
DO NOT REREQUEST SR NUMBERS! If a number had previously been requested and put on the waiting list, it will be allocated.
