SUBJECT: REMOVAL OF VALLETTA AS DESIGNATED IV PROCESSING
POST FOR LIBYANS

REF: DARNELL/CAIRNS E-MAIL DTD 07/31/01

1. Effective immediately, the Department is amending 9 FAM
42.61 "List of Homeless Nationalities and Selected
Processing Posts" to remove Valletta as a selected
processing post for Libyan immigrant visa (IV)
applicants. This change will leave Tunis as the
designated processing post for Libyan IV applicants.
The Department expects that this change will have a
limited effect on other posts' workload, as Embassy
Valletta processed only 18 IVs for Libyan IV applicants
in FY00.

2. Posts are encouraged to review 9 FAM 42.61 N3.2 for
more information on the processing of homeless cases.

3. Minimize considered.
