House Passes Bills Allowing Toll for Military Petitions and Admission of Nurses
On August 1, 2011, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 398 and H.R. 1933.
H.R. 398 (Rep. Lofgren, D-CA) would toll, for the time that active-duty military members are abroad, the period of time to file a residency petition and appear for an interview. H.R. 398 passed the House 407-17.
H.R. 1933 (Rep. Smith, R-TX) would modify the requirements for admission of nonimmigrant nurses in health professional shortage areas. H.R. 1933 passed the House 426-0.
