AILA Doc. No. 19082161 | Dated August 21, 2019
AILA, the American Immigration Council, and Public Citizen obtained via FOIA litigation 11 complaints filed against Immigration Judge William A. Cassidy from 2010 to 2012. The complaints invoke concerns about bias, due process, judicial conduct, and legal analysis and were obtained through FOIA litigation that resulted in the disclosure of complaints filed against all immigration judges after October 1, 2009. When EOIR originally provided the complaints, the names of the judges were redacted. In November 2018, following an earlier court decision requiring the disclosure of 14 of the judges’ names, EOIR released unredacted copies of those complaints.
For more information about the FOIA litigation and copies of the complaints, see AILA Receives Records Relating to EOIR Misconduct in FOIA Lawsuit (AILA Doc No. 13111458).
