This information is provided to you for informational purposes and may be distributed to the public upon request. As you know, the Immigration Act of 1990 (IMMACT) imposed an annual 65,000 numerical cap on the H-1B classification. For the fiscal year ending September 30, 1995, the INS approved 54,718 H-1B petitions and 2,398 H-2B petitions. The number reflects new approvals only and not extensions of stay.
