TSC Requests Re-Filing of Certain EAD Applications

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

TEMPORARY PROTECTED STATUS
FOR HONDURANS AND NICARAGUANS

The Texas Service Center is committed to assuring that all applicants for the Honduran / Nicaraguan TPS extension receive their work authorization card before their current cards expire
on December 5, 2001. To expedite production of the work authorization card and to guarantee that all beneficiaries receive their new cards before December 5, 2001, the Texas Service Center requests that certain extension applicants re-file their application package - without fee.

The following guidance applies ONLY to individuals who: (1) have received an I-797 receipt notice; (2) have not yet received a work authorization card; AND (3) have not received a letter requesting additional evidence or documentation to support the extension application. All other TPS applicants and beneficiaries may disregard this announcement.

1. Re-send the following documents:

(a.) Forms I-821 and I-765, without fee.
(b.) Two (2) ADIT-style photographs.
(c.) A copy of the receipt notice (Form I-797) you received after submitting the extension application package.

2. On the top of each Form I-821 and I-765 and on the outside of the envelope or package, write in red ink "TPS Reconstruct"

3. Mail the envelope or package to:

USINS TSC
PO Box 853062
Mesquite, TX 75185-3062

Note: Original application packages that were received by the INS after August 6, 2001 were not timely filed. Individuals whose original applications were received by the INS after the August 6, 2001 deadline for re-registering would not receive a receipt notice, but rather a letter rejecting the application. Individuals who received a rejection letter stating that the application was received after August 6, 2001 should not re-submit an application.

Further Note: In order to facilitate the processing of their application, applicants who have received a letter requesting additional evidence should make every effort to respond to that
request in a timely manner.
