The 2022 edition of AILA’s USMCA Toolbox contains practical guidance for practitioners with Canadian and Mexican clients seeking admission under the nonimmigrant categories covered by the U.S.-Canada-Mexico agreement, with a focus on TN, L, and B admissions.

The Toolbox collects articles from leading practitioners in the field, covering topics such as:

  • TN procedures for Canadians and for Mexicans
  • What to expect at the border and how to deal with CBP officers
  • TN issues specific to economists, healthcare workers, computer systems analysts, management consultants, and self-employment
  • How to handle TN denials
  • Waivers for TN inadmissibility
  • Expedited removal
  • Maintaining TN status while applying for permanent residence
  • B-1 after-sales service
  • Choosing between USCIS and port-of-entry processing for L-1s

In addition, the Toolbox contains samples forms, letters, and other documents commonly used in USMCA cases, to give practitioners a model for successful applications. The Toolbox consists of downloadable files that you can adapt for use in each case.

Immigration lawyers with a cross-border practice will find AILA’s USMCA Toolbox an indispensable guide to the most common methods of bringing our neighbors to the north and south to the United States to work in a professional capacity.
