AILA President David Leopold joined the Kansas/Missouri AILA Chapter in a 7/14/10 press conference to counter a Kris Kobach-led campaign rally in Overland Park, KS. Kobach, who authored Arizona’s anti-immigrant law SB 1070 and is running for Secretary of State in Kansas, brought his friend AZ Sheriff Joe Arpaio to co-host his campaign event. The rally was originally scheduled to be held on the campus of MidAmerica Nazarene University, but was cancelled after immigration advocates urged the MNU President to revoke permission for the event.
