On 5/20/09, Senator Menendez (D-NJ), Senator Gillibrand (D-NY), Senator Kennedy (D-MA), and Senator Schumer (D-NY) introduced the Reuniting Families Act (S.1085).
The bill aims to help family members reunite in America in a timely manner by reforming America's family-based immigration system to end lengthy separations of loved ones, promote family stability and foster the economic growth.
A companion bill (H.R. 2709) was also introduced in the House of Representatives by Rep. Honda (D-CA).
