Finding Safety and Practicing De-Escalation

Finding Safety and Practicing De-Escalation

This roundtable introduces immigration attorneys to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectal Behavioral techniques to support their own well-being while managing the stresses of working with clients facing trauma and uncertainty. Participants will learn practical strategies to increase psychological flexibility, radical acceptance, manage anxiety, de-escalation skills, and stay grounded in their values. Through hands-on exercises, participants will gain actionable tools to reduce burnout, enhance resilience, and maintain emotional balance in their professional practice.

AILA and the National Well-Being Committee are excited to present this roundtable as a part of Well-Being Week in Law 2026. Join us for a week of resources and roundtables to build community, share practices, support well-being, and manage stress together.
