AILA Briefing with Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren: Why America Needs Independent Immigration Courts

AILA Briefing with Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren: Why America Needs Independent Immigration Courts

AILA invites you to join a Congressional briefing on the Real Courts, Rule of Law Act with longtime bill champion Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (CA-18) and the National Association of Immigration Judges. Dramatic changes implemented under the current administration, including mass judge firings, imposing quotas on judges, the elimination of the courts’ bond jurisdiction, and the use of mega-masters, to name a few, have deeply undermined the fairness and impartiality of the immigration courts. The solution is to insulate them from Executive Branch control and interference. The September 21 briefing will highlight how the bill restores the integrity of the immigration courts by establishing them under Article I of the Constitution and creating an independent court. In addition to joining the briefing, act now by telling your member of Congress to cosponsor the Real Courts, Rule of Law Act.
