August 10, 2015

Due to a security incident this morning near the U.S. Consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, the Consulate will be closed until Tuesday, August 11, 2015. A security message has been posted for U.S. Citizens.


February 24, 2015

Because the Embassy Sanaa has suspended consular operations in Yemen, DOS has designated the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt to handle American Citizens Services cases emanating out of Yemen, as well as process visas for Yemeni citizens.

On 2/11/15, due to the deteriorating security situation in Sanaa, the Department of State suspended embassy operations and U.S. Embassy Sanaa American staff were relocated out of the country. All consular services, routine and/or emergency, have been suspended until further notice.

Due to ongoing security concerns in Yemen, U.S. Embassy Sanaa has suspended all consular services until further notice. For now, U.S. citizens in need of emergency assistance should contact a U.S. embassy or consulate in a neighboring country. U.S. Embassy Sanaa is continuously analyzing the security conditions in Yemen; please check this website for updates.


October 17, 2014

DOS notice that the U.S. Consulate General in Calgary will be closed for nonimmigrant visa services during the month of November, 2014. Extra appointments have been made available 10/15/14 through 10/28/14. Normal visa operations will resume in December, 2014.

DOS notice that the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Manila, Philippines will be closed on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, in anticipation of inclement weather conditions related to Typhoon Rammasun/Glenda. Consular services have been suspended in order to safeguard the public and our employees. Individuals with scheduled visa interviews should monitor our website or contact our visa information service at 02-982-5555 to reschedule.

DOS notice that due to the current security situation in Tel Aviv, U.S. Embassy Tel Aviv remains open but is operating at reduced staffing until further notice, and has canceled routine visa application processing and American Citizen services.

DOS notice that the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel is closed for routine services for both visas and services for U.S. citizens through 7/10/14 due to the current security situation. Emergency cases will be considered on a case-by-case basis. To ask for an emergency appointment, please e-mail NIVTelAviv@state.gov (for visas) or AMCTelAviv@state.gov (for U.S. Citizens Services) and explain the nature of your emergency.

DOS notice that the U.S. Embassy Consular Section in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic will be closed for consular service between 6/11/14 and 6/15/14 due to relocation. Consular services will resume on 6/16/14 at the new embassy location in the sector of Arroyo Hondo.

DOS notice that there will be a further drawdown of U.S. Embassy personnel from Juba due to the deteriorating security situation in South Sudan. The U.S. Embassy in Juba, South Sudan will no longer provide any consular services to U.S. citizens in the Republic of South Sudan as of January 1, 2014.

DOS notice that the U.S. Embassy in Juba, South Sudan is closed on 12/15/2013 due to ongoing security incidents and gunfire in multiple locations across Juba.

DOS notice that the U.S. Embassy in Manila, Philippines is closed for all routine American Citizen Services from 11/13/13 through 11/15/13 in order to assist with Typhoon Yolanda recovery efforts.

DOS notice that the U.S. Embassy in Manila will be closed for visa interviews and routine business on Monday, August 26, 2013 due to the expectation of a large demonstration in Luneta in the vicinity of the Embassy.

DOS notice that the U.S. Embassy in Manila will be closed on Tuesday, 8/20/13 due to severe flooding in and around metro Manila. The Embassy will also be closed on Wednesday, 8/21/13 in observance of Ninoy Aquino Day. Weather permitting, the Embassy will resume operations on Thursday, August 22, 2013.

U.S. Embassy in Egypt reopened on Monday, 7/15/13 with limited visa services. The Consular Section's capacity to respond to inquiries is limited due to the volume and consular services may experience unusual delays due to the current security environment.

Consular operations at the U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou will be suspended on July 15, 2013, as part of the Consulate's move to a new facility. ACS services will be unavailable until July 22, 2013, and IVs for adoption cases will resume on July 24, 2013.
