H.R. 6776: Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, 2019
On 9/12/18, the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act (H.R. 6776) was placed on the Union Calendar, Calendar No. 739.
On 7/25/18, the U.S. House Appropriations Committee approved the FY2018 DHS appropriations bill on a vote of 29-22, as amended. The bill contains the following funding: $5 billion for part of the wall; funds for 400 additional ICE personnel; and an increase funds for up to 44,000 detention beds. A few notable amendments to the bill include:
- An amendment from Rep. David Price (D-NC) that would prevent use of funds to implement Matter of A-B- .
- An amendment by Reps. Andy Harris (R-MD), Henry Cuellar (D-TX), Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD), Chellie Pingree (D-ME), and Chris Stewart (R-UT) providing H-2B cap relief by exempting H-2B workers who received an H-2B visa within the previous 2 fiscal years.
- An amendment by Rep. Kevin Yoder (R-KS) that would eliminate the per-country limits on employment-based immigrant visas and raise the family-based per country limits from 7% to 15%.

On 7/19/18, the Homeland Security Subcommittee reported, on a voice vote, the FY2019 DHS appropriations bill to the full House Appropriations Committee.
On 7/17/18, the House Committee on Appropriations introduced the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act. The bill funds the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for FY2019. This is the House companion bill of the Senate DHS appropriations bill (S. 3109).
