DOS Final Rule to Eliminate Outdated CFR Provision on Evaluations of IV Applicant Family Members

DOS final rule eliminating 22 CFR §42.68, which gave consular officers the authority to conduct an informal evaluation of the family members of an immigrant visa applicant to identify potential grounds of ineligibility. This rule results in no change for applicants, as the authority granted by 22 CFR §42.68 was no longer used by consular officers. The rule is effective 1/8/24. (88 FR 85109, 12/7/23)
