On 1/10/2014 Rep. Candice Miller (R-MI), Chair of the Border and Maritime Subcommittee of the House Homeland Security Committee, introduced H.R. 3846 to authorize the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

On 3/21/2014 Rep. Miller introduced H.R. 4279 to authorize Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

On 4/8/2014 the Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security held a hearing on both bills featuring Kevin McAleenan, Acting Deputy Commissioner of CBP and Daniel Ragsdale, Acting Director of ICE. http://homeland.house.gov/hearing/subcommittee-hearing-authorizing-customs-and-border-protection-and-immigration-and-customs On 5/20/14 the Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security held a Markup of H.R. 3846, CBP Authorization. The bill was passed on a voice vote as amended.
