AILA Doc. No. 17062030 | Dated June 20, 2017
New Orleans, LA - This Saturday, June 24, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), in partnership with AILA's Mid-South Chapter and Catholic Charities of New Orleans will offer free Know Your Rights presentations and immigration law consultations.
The event, the seventh Pro Bono Clinic held in conjunction with AILA's Annual Conference, will take place at Carollton Avenue Church of Christ. At last year's event in Las Vegas, dozens of AILA joined together to help scores of immigrants and AILA hopes this year will be an even bigger success.
"New Orleans is a welcoming city where immigrants have made their mark century after century, contributing to the city's growth and prosperity in the past and helping it flourish today. AILA and its members are incredibly proud to help those seeking assistance, whether they want to learn about their rights or get specific questions answered about their individual situations," said AILA Executive Director Benjamin Johnson.
Volunteers will conduct Know Your Rights presentations followed by one-on-one consultations.
One of the lead organizers of the event, AILA Mid-South Chapter Pro Bono Committee Member Priya Kumar, noted, "In a time when rumors run rampant about immigration enforcement and people are rightfully concerned about new policies' potential impact on their lives, good information is absolutely crucial. This pro bono clinic is a resource for the entire community."
AILA members interested in signing up to volunteer, please sign up via the form available through this link.
