AILA Presents Dahlia Walker-Huntington with the 2021 Diversity and Inclusion Award

WASHINGTON, DC - The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) recognizes Dahlia Walker-Huntington of Hollywood, FL, with the 2021 Diversity and Inclusion Award for outstanding efforts in promoting diversity and inclusion excellence in the immigration legal profession.

Dahlia Walker-Huntington is an immigration and family lawyer in Hollywood, Florida, and is a Diversity and Inclusion Consultant. Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, Mrs. Walker-Huntington is a graduate of Miami Dade College and Florida International University with degrees in Journalism; the University of Miami School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree; and Cornell University with a Diversity and Inclusion Certificate.

For more than 20 years she has spoken and written extensively on issues of immigrants’ rights, Jamaican Diaspora affairs, and race and gender equality; and lobbied the U.S. Congress and successive U.S. governments for fair immigration laws.

Ms. Walker-Huntington co-hosts a weekly immigration program on Power 106FM radio in Jamaica for the last 16 years that is heard worldwide, and is a weekly columnist with the Jamaica Gleaner – the Caribbean’s oldest continuously published English language newspaper.

A former Adjunct Professor at Miami Dade College, and advisor to the Jamaican Government on Diaspora affairs, Ms. Walker-Huntington is a longtime champion for women’s equality and in 2013 created a Women’s organization and a Women’s Empowerment Conference.

In 2020 in response to the sea of misinformation circulating around the US General Elections, she founded Caribbean American Voices to inform, educate and mobilize the Caribbean American Diaspora on issues which impact that community. She is a former Magistrate at the City of Miramar, Florida and a former Hearing Officer for Broward County, Florida Animal Court. A member of several organizations including the American Bar Association and AILA’s South Florida Chapter where she is the Vice-Chair of the Congressional Committee and the former Vice Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

She is married to Glen Huntington and they live in Miramar, Florida.
