FOR RELEASE JUNE 21, 2023
Orlando, FL — Visalaw.ai, a leader in legal technology for immigration lawyers, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the national bar organization of more than 16,000 immigration lawyers, have unveiled Gen, a groundbreaking product designed for immigration lawyers, harnessing the powerful GPT4 model for legal research, document drafting and summarization.
This innovative tool incorporates a vast immigration law library including all the major primary law materials as well as AILA’s Practice and Procedures Manual (“Cookbook”), co-written by Visalaw.ai co-founder Greg Siskind. The product enables comprehensive legal research, providing answers backed by authoritative resources from a trusted, expert knowledge base.
Visalaw.ai has also addressed the critical concern of client confidentiality in the use of AI tools. Lawyers will be able to maintain strict client confidentiality while using Gen for research in its legal library and also separately access ChatGPT’s vast LLM while ensuring the information exchanged remains secure and private.
“Immigration law is an incredibly complex, high-stakes area of law. The outcomes of cases can alter lives and impact the economy. Generative AI is one of the most groundbreaking technologies in our lifetime, and AILA is excited to be collaborating with Visalaw.ai to harness this new technology to empower our members and to expand their capacity to meet the ever-growing need for legal advice and representation,” said Benjamin Johnson, AILA Executive Director.
“We’re proud to be at the forefront of technology’s integration into immigration law,” said Josh Waddell, a co-founder of Visalaw.ai. “By leveraging the powerful GPT4 model, we’re giving immigration lawyers the tools to navigate complex legal landscapes efficiently and accurately.”
The product introduces a feature to summarize lengthy materials and even foreign language documents in English, saving lawyers time in their complex work. This feature is set to be particularly transformative for immigration lawyers, who frequently work with documents in multiple languages.
Taking personalization a step further, the product allows users to upload their own materials and interrogate these documents in a manner similar to interacting with ChatGPT. This feature brings the power of AI to users’ fingertips, allowing them to search their personalized content with ease and precision.
“Gen is not just a tool, it’s a game-changer for immigration lawyers,” said Jared Jaskot, an immigration lawyer who has been a leader in innovating legal technology. “It’s going to revolutionize how we work, making research, document review, and client service faster and more efficient than ever.”
