AG Letter to ABA President Regarding Access to Judicial Nominees

5/29/25 AILA Doc. No. 25062307.

DOJ published a letter, dated 5/29/25, from Attorney General Pam Bondi to American Bar Association (ABA) President William R. Bay. In it, Bondi alleges that the ABA is biased in favor of nominees put forth by Democratic administrations, and as such DOJ is ending the practice of providing the ABA “special access” to judicial nominees. The Office of Legal policy will no longer direct nominees to provide waivers allowing the ABA access to non-public information such as bar records, and nominees will not fill out ABA questionnaires or sit for interviews with the ABA.
