DHS Requests Comments on Collection of Biographic and Employment Identifiers on Immigration Forms

DHS requests comments on generic clearance for the collection of certain biographic and employment identifiers on immigration forms. This collection is to be used by USCIS, in compliance with Section 2 of E.O. 14161, to assess eligibility for immigration-related benefits, validate an applicant's identity, and help determine whether such grant of a benefit poses a security or public-safety threat. These six identifiers will be collected: Beneficiary/Applicant/Petitioner Social Security Number; Family Member (parent(s), spouse, sibling(s), and child(ren)) Social Security Number; Business/Employer Name; Business/Employer Physical Address; Business/Employer Mailing Address; Business Federal Employer Identification Number. The following forms will be impacted:

  • Form N-400, Application for Naturalization
  • Form I-131, Application for Travel Document
  • Form I-192, Application for Advance Permission to Enter as a Nonimmigrant
  • Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust status
  • Form I-589, Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal
  • Form I-590, Registration for Classification as Refugee
  • Form I-730, Refugee/Asylee Relative Petition
  • Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence
  • Form I-829, Petition by Entrepreneur to Remove Conditions on Permanent Resident Status
