Statement by Secretary Johnson on Southwest Border Security and Apprehensions for FY2017

Statement by DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson on CBP apprehensions in FY2017 of family units and unaccompanied children. In October 2016, 46,195 individuals were apprehended on the southwest border, compared to 39,501 in September 2016. There are currently 41,000 individuals in detention facilities.
