H.R. 4092: Agricultural Guestworker Act (AG Act)

On 10/25/17, the House Judiciary Committee approved the Agricultural Guestworker Act (H.R. 4092) by a vote of 17-16, as amended by Representative Labrador, Representative Johnson, Representative Handel, Representative Farenthold, and Representative DeSantis.


The House Judiciary Committee conducted a markup of the Agricultural Guestworker Act (H.R. 4092) and the Legal Workforce Act (H.R. 3711) on October 24, 2017, at 10:00 am (ET) and October 25, 2017, at 11:00am (ET).


On 10/24/17, Representative Raul Labrador (R-ID) proposed an amendment in the nature of a substitution to the Agricultural Guestworker Act.


On 10/23/17, Representative Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) introduced the Agricultural Guestworker Act (H.R. 4092) which seeks to create a new temporary agricultural guestworker program by replacing the current H-2A program with an H-2C visa for temporary agricultural workers. The new H-2C visa program would cover year-round agricultural and horticultural work, including dairies, aquaculture operations, raw food processors, and forestry-related activities, among others.
