Senate Confirms Emilio T. Gonzalez, Ph.D. as Director of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services

On December 22, 2005, the Senate confirmed the appointment of Emilio T. Gonzales, Ph.D., as the Director of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. Dr. Gonzalez will take office on January 3, 2006. Robert C. Divine will remain in his current position as Acting Deputy Director of USCIS, the position he has held since the appointment of the previous Director, Eduardo Aguirre, current ambassador to Spain.
