Practice Alert: Delayed or Missing Biometrics Requests and/or Receipt Notices for Defensive Asylum
Reports of delayed receipts and biometrics request for Defensive Asylum applicants, and their derivative, have resumed. While AILA believed this issue to have been resolved in late 2023, the delays appear to have resurfaced.
The issue was discussed during a recent meeting with the Office of the Ombudsman, who requested examples of such delays.
As a reminder to the membership, it is recommended that duplicate requests for biometrics not be filed, as this may lead to further delays and potential error is actual receipt date.
