USCIS Issues Policy Alert on Applicability of Confidentiality Protections at 8 U.S.C. 1367

USCIS issued a policy alert (PA-2025-34) updating guidance in the Policy Manual to clarify when USCIS will allow confidentiality protections to apply in certain cases, such as VAWA self-petitions, T, and U visas. This includes evaluating criminal history, the source of certain information, and the end of confidentiality protections at naturalization. The guidance is effective 12/22/25. Feedback is due 1/22/26.
