OSC TAL on Request for Alternative Documentation Following I-9 Audit
An 10/23/15 Technical Assistance Letter (TAL) from DOJ's Office of Special Counsel on how to advise a client following an internal audit of the client's Forms I-9, including what steps a client should take with respect to Permanent Resident Cards (Forms I-551) where the documentation is doubtful.
Note, on 12/14/15, OSC and ICE issued joint guidance to employers on internal Form I-9 audits (AILA Doc. No. 15121605). In light of this guidance, on 1/7/16, OSC issued an updated TAL (AILA Doc. No. 16011307).
