Action Request: Expanding Screening and Vetting for FMJ Applicants
A Department of State cable instructing consular officers to review the online presence of F, M, and J visa applicants “to identify applicants who bear hostile attitudes toward our [the United States’] citizens, culture, government, institutions or founding principles." The cable also instructs embassies to flag any applicants who “advocate for, aid or support for foreign terrorists and other threats to U.S. national security; or who perpetrate unlawful antisemitic harassment or violence.”
