AILA Executive Director Responds to House Bipartisan Immigration Proposal

7/15/25 AILA Doc. No. 25071500. Congress

In response to the introduction of the Dignity Act of 2025 by Representatives Veronica Escobar (TX-16) and Maria Elvira Salazar (FL-27) and other members of Congress, AILA’s Executive Director Benjamin Johnson stated:

“In a rare move, House Republicans and Democrats have come together and introduced a bipartisan bill to reform America’s immigration laws. Our nation urgently needs a functional, fair, and efficient immigration system that advances our national interest and prosperity. While AILA doesn’t endorse every provision, this initial proposal begins the vital dialogue on reform, and we will work with these leaders to achieve the best possible compromise.
“This effort demonstrates what a real conversation on immigration can look like—one rooted in American values of fairness and opportunity, driven by economic growth and prosperity, and grounded in our shared humanity rather than extreme enforcement tactics that are terrifying communities, ripping apart families, adding to the ranks of the undocumented, and creating significant economic disruptions. Americans want positive action, not empty promises. Congress should rise to the challenge and finally deliver the effective immigration reform our country deserves.”
