WASHINGTON, DC - The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) is pleased to announce the launch of its Federal Court Litigation Section today. The section, AILA's first, seeks to foster a new community among AILA members who argue immigration cases in federal court. Experienced and new federal litigators will be encouraged to join the section, which is currently offered at no cost. Membership in the section includes access to a listserve and discussion forum, mentorship, specialized educational opportunities, case studies, and new resource tools.

"This is an exciting step forward for AILA," said Crystal Williams, AILA's Executive Director. "For the first time, we are creating a formal subsection of our growing membership. In this instance, it is for those of our more than 11,000 members who specialize in federal litigation and those who wish to learn more about the practice of immigration law in the federal courts."

The section will be chaired by Thomas Ragland, a Washington, DC, immigration attorney and a partner in the Immigration Practice Group at Duane Morris LLP. With more than 15 years of experience, Mr. Ragland is a seasoned litigator known for handling complex matters for both individual and corporate clients.

The AILA Federal Court Litigation Section has its own webpage on the AILA website, www.aila.org/litigationsection.
